Program Note

Sunward begins with a lyrical and reflective introduction then transitions into bright and spirited
thematic material. While writing the piece I was inspired by the radiance of the sun and the energy
and joy it gives to the human spirit. The music captures a spirit of optimism, mirroring the vibrant
and uplifting qualities of an encouraging human being.
